Noor-un-nisa (Nisa) Touchon is a filmmaker, educator, and multimedia storyteller whose work spans documentary, narrative, and experimental forms. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts with a concentration in Film Production and a Minor in Arts Leadership and Business from the University of New Mexico (2018).
Nisa’s filmmaking credits include award-winning projects such as the feature documentary, NEW: ART is Culture, CULTURE is Art: Lloyd Kiva New (Editor), which received multiple accolades including a Best Documentary nomination at the 2024 London Film Festival and the Visionary Film Award at the Santa Fe Film Festival. Her short documentary Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya’s Findings (Co-Director, Editor, Writer) won a Bronze Telly Award for Best Documentary Short. Notably, her direction and editing of Holy Water, a music video for the late Wake Self, earned multiple awards including Best Female Director and Best Music Video at the Independent Shorts Awards in Los Angels, California.
As a freelance filmmaker, Nisa produces, captures, and edits video and photography content for nonprofits, artists, and production teams. She is currently serving as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Cinematic Arts and Technology at the Institute of American Indian Arts, and is a Communications Fellow with the University of California, Los Angeles’s Center for Diverse Leadership in Science, supporting storytelling projects that elevate underrepresented voices in science.
With experience in youth media education, she has coordinated mentorship opportunities through programs like Film Prize Junior New Mexico, facilitating filmmaking education for students across Albuquerque public schools. Her creative and logistical leadership in programs such as Meow Wolf’s college-level internship initiative, immersive storytelling workshops, and staff workshops, has supported the development of emerging artists and professionals alike.
